Waller Creek

Until the creation of a new bypass tunnel, flooding stifled the development of the area around Austin’s Waller Creek for decades. As one of four finalists in an international competition, our team undertook six months of research, planning and public engagement to devise a plan to transform the creek corridor. Our multilayered solution was created to maximize the natural beauty of the corridor and leverage Austin’s artistic and entrepreneurial sectors to inform its growth over a 10 to 20-year period. Our vision was to seamlessly mesh the experiential and ecological qualities of Hill Country creeks with the cultural and economic vitality of a grand urban boulevard.
