FORT WORTH, TX – Inspired by the annual wildflower bloom, we designed a year-round field of colorful vertical sculptures to enliven an anonymous highway landscape.
Our goal with Wildflower was to create a piece of art that would fit within the setting and be visible from the freeway, while enhancing the East Regional Library grounds and creating a new destination to be explored. Painted in bright colors, we designed an installation of vertical steel shapes cantilevered out of the ground that reference the annual wildflower bloom. Individual pieces are arranged to appear freeform from a distance but reveals a uniform structure as the viewer approaches. Pathways meander through the sculptures and literary inscriptions on the pieces provide moments for discovery and contemplation. Wildflower was selected by the City of Fort Worth from numerous nationwide submissions.
